Photo of the Day 4-28-11

Boston was enveloped in sweat and pollen yesterday as the temperature surged past 80 degrees for the first time in 2011. It was also the first time I’ve taken three showers in one day in 2011. Freakin’ loved it.

I also had my last formal class of the semester. Finals are all next week, but I lucked out this year. During one final session my teacher is taking us to get Dim Sum in Chinatown, I’m meeting my JR408 professor Adam for coffee somewhere during ours, my lit teacher is too ancient and important to bother showing up during that one, and for my Law & Ethics class: take home exam!

So riding Edith (she’s my new wheels – Red has been retired after attempting to kill me one time too many) home through the common last night was care-free if not steamy, and the Back Bay skylinewas sweating as hard as I was.

The top of the Pru looked like a ship pulling into a foggy harbor. I tried getting a good shot of it but the humidity really messed with my camera’s focus. Almost every picture was a little blurred, and using stupid Ghost Hunters’ logic regarding unexplained “orbs” in flash photography, there is a serious ghost infestation in the Public Garden.

I rode all the way down the Comm Ave Mall around 10 pm trying to get a clear shot, but it wasn’t happening. I especially wanted to get a good shot of the church at the intersection of Clarendon with the men carved into the top. From where I was standing and under that lighting, it looked like real dudes with trombones and harps were just leaning over the side of the building. I cropped one pic heavily to try and get this effect -it’s the first in the series below.

Here’s hoping the sky keeps getting weirder as the seasons change so I can get some more pics.
