I took this picture yesterday on my way to Tasca’s in Brighton. These storefronts are sandwiched between Melvin’s pharmacy and a shady gas station around 1600 Comm Ave, at the summit of the giant hill between the Washington and Warren T stops on the B line. It looks like the same graffiti artist who did the grates over at The Silhouette on Brighton Ave in Allston. I used to live on Summit Ave in the saddest apartment in all of Brighton, with a strictly ornamental AC in the wall and bed-bugs the size of dimes. It was a dark yet wonderful time, but we couldn’t be happier to have changed neighborhoods. We still trek up to Tasca’s for the best tapas in town every couple months, but walking up that hill is a chore I avoid at all costs. Some of the only things about this corner I miss is Melvin’s pharmacy, the closest place to get a pint from the train to my apartment, and this graffiti, making this one of the only vacant storefronts I support in this end of town.
