Focus #1

I’m brainstorming a few ideas for what I’d like to do with this site. First would be some sort of city photoblog. I have no camera however, and I’m not positive my shooting skills are up to snuff. My experience is nil so who knows, but right now it’s not an option. Another idea I’ve constantly had floating around is an urban development kind of blog, where I follow news regarding real estate or development in the city. I’m a member at archBoston.org, an architecture and development thread, that keeps me abreast of the news in this sector, city hall meetings, architecture events, etc. Ideally, a hybrid site that covers these events in a journalistic voice with accompanying visuals will come about. So my goals for the next few days:

1. Get a camera. I just got my tax returns back, and I’m in a rare position to make such purchases. My laptop has shit the bed and I’m getting a good deal on a new one, so maybe I can squeeze in a new camera.

2. Compile a calendar, for personal and blog use, of dates for events and meetings to attend (preferably, with my camera).

3. Compile some data to get some blogs/essays on here. I have access to pdf’s of projects and proposals from the BRA that I could comment on for days. Again, a camera would help with this, but maybe just some simple commenting using historical photos from the BPL or just some topic brainstorming could fuel this.

I’d barely call what I’ve just composed a real list: I basically just say I want a camera. But again, the focus IS coming, and I’ll have a little more coherence in the coming posts.
